Her obituary: Mrs Gertrude Winston Macmillan, 85 Kennesaw resident. Gertrude Winston MacMillan, 85, of Kennesaw died Monday, January 20, 2003. Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at New Salem Baptist Church in Kennesaw. A native of Roanoke, Va., Mrs. MacMillan was a minister's wife for 61 years. She and her husband served in Washington, D.C.; Ft. Worth and Dallas, Texas; Chicago; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Marietta; and Indian Creek in Stone Mountain. They also served in numerous interim positions. Mrs. MacMillan also taught at Sprayberry High School, J.J. Daniell Middle School and Fort Oglethorpe. She also worked at Acadia Life Insurance Company in Washington, D.C. Survivors include her children, Daniel Gerald of Bluefield, Va., Timothy Walton of Marietta and Judith Ruth of Kennesaw; two sisters; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. Contributions may be made to the MacMillan Scholarship Fund of Bluefield College in Virginia or the Lottie Moon, Annie Armstrong or State Mission offering at New Salem Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge Funeral Home in Kennesaw and from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
