Her obituary: Miss M.H. Burton. Miss Mary H. Burton, 67, of Powder Springs, died Monday at her home. Funeral services were 3 p.m. Tuesday in the J. Cowan Whitley Company Funeral Home chapel in Douglasville, Rev. G.A. Lively and Rev. C. Laverne Mobley officiating. Burial was in Douglasville City Cemetery. During her teaching career, Miss Burton taught at Douglas County High School, Carrollton High School, Gainesville High School and West Georgia College. She was a counselor in the Cobb County school system for 16 years. She retired from Sprayberry High School in 1971. She was a member of the National Education Association, Georgia Association of Educators, A.P.G.A., Delta Kappa Gamma, Metro Atlanta Health Association, Cobb County Retired Teachers Association, Georgia Retired Teachers Association and National Retired Teachers Association. She is survived by four aunts, Mrs. W.A. Barber of Charlotte, N.C., Mrs. N.D. Burton of Douglasville, Mrs. J.P. Burton of Griffin, and Mrs. R.C. Burton of Birmingham, Ala. J. Cowan Whitley Company Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
